Safety alert: FedEx Ground-branded tractor-trailer jackknifes

According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, when driving on highways, keep in mind:

• More than 90% of jackknife accidents involve a tractor pulling a single trailer, with the rest involving tractors with multiple trailers.

• Speed is involved in one-third of all fatal crashes.

• Speed affects safety even if going the speed limit, but too fast for road conditions (i.e., during bad weather, when a road is under repair, or in an area that isn't well lit).

• wearing a seat belt at all times while the vehicle is moving greatly reduces the chance of injury or death in the event of an accident.
