Buckle up. It only takes two seconds.

Recent seat belt violations have included service provider personnel manipulating the seat belt to be fastened without being worn by the driver. This is a violation of law and a breach of the service provider’s Agreement with FedEx Ground.
Wearing a seat belt is not a choice, it’s the law.* It only takes two seconds** to buckle up and it’s one of the safest choices both drivers and passengers can make, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA). In Canada, seat belt use saves about 1,000 lives a year, according to the Canadian Safety Council (CSC).
To ensure safe operations, service providers agree to ensure that all personnel comply with seat belt laws. Failure can result in contract action, including an opportunity to cure. In addition, service providers agree not to assign personnel with Observed Non-Compliance infractions related to wearing a seat belt. For more information, view Observed non-compliance: speeding, seat belts and handheld devices.
To buckle up safely, the NHTSA and CSC recommend:
NEVER putting the belt behind the person, behind the back, or under an arm.
Ensuring the lap shoulder belts are secured across the upper thighs and rib cage.
Placing the shoulder belt across the middle of the chest and away from the neck.
Service providers agree to use VEDR videos to address VEDR triggering events with their personnel. Please refer to the Safety Topic Library for additional resources on seat belt safety.
We’re relying on your business to help keep roadways safe.
Have a safe Peak.
