CHRISTOPHER TRUCKING INC. (CTI) It’s that time of the year we love to hate PEAK. During this time, as you all know, you must be available 7 days a week. So always stay prepared and ready to do your run. We will try to give breaks, if possible, to drivers that may run out of time. During this time there will be NO TAKING OFF. For those that don’t remember the web page (WWW.Christophertrucking.com) (password: cti2017). On here is where you will find the dates for PEAK. SAFETY Cognitive Distraction – According to the NHTSA, cognitive distraction occurs when a driver’s mind is focused on something other than driving. Examples include: • Daydreaming • Engaging in conversation • Listening to the radio • Glare • Wildlife/scenery • Billboards/signs • Constructions sites • Accident scenes • Searching for an object in the vehicle TO PREVENT HIGHWAY HYPNOSIS • Get enough rest: 7-8 hours of sleep • Wear sunglasses: to avoid daytime glare • Adjust the vehicle’s environment: Cool AC in summer; not too warm in winter • Avoid using cruise control • Pay attention to posture: Head up, shoulders back, legs flexed at a 45-degree angle • Take a break if needed: to walk around and gather yourself I have spoken to some of you about the events that been occurring on the camera. I want to reiterate the importance of your weekly reports. FedEx get the same report as I. Meaning every thing you get ding for is being stored. At any given moment I can get that call. I’m not going to keep getting written up for things you know you shouldn’t be doing. Example: • Not stopping at the stop sign leaving the parking lot (right outside the gate) • Not stopping at the stop sign turning right to go to the yard • Not stopping at the stop sign on John Young to go to the parking lot (after leaving the yard) • Not wearing seat belt going to and coming back to the parking lot • FOLLOWING DISTANCE (EVERYONE) Everyone should be receiving an email every week from Lynx regarding your weekly report (summary of what you done that week). Don’t be that one to get let go or suspended because of your actions. I have verbally mention this to you all in advance. Now with all that out the way, let’s start off Peak with a positive attitude. You will need to pack your patience, try to remain calm and get plenty of rest. Let’s work together to maintain safe operations during the busy Peak season. Thanks for everything you all continue to do to keep safety as a precondition in the Christopher Trucking network and on the roadways. Any questions give me or Twan a call. Have a safe Peak!
